ING has found that certain aspects of marathon running, and long-distance running in general, are closely aligned with the Group's own values:
- athletics has values close to those of ING: exceeding your limits, long-term vision and the ‘drive to do more’;
- long-distance running brings together spectators of all ages and backgrounds. Similarly, ING has people of different ages, conditions and backgrounds among its staff and clients;
- the marathon is a collective experience: the runners are united in facing the same challenge: running more than 42km. They share a human experience among themselves but also with the spectators along the course. This community spirit and solidarity also characterises ING’s approach to its work.
