By “Securities” one must understand the whole panel of investment products, simple (equities, bonds, investment funds…) or complex (derivatives, private equity, …) which are handled on organized markets, like stock exchanges, or directly negotiated between two parties.
The main mission of the Securities department consist in the custody of all securities for the clients of ING Luxembourg – internal, external, local or international – and to execute all necessary operations on the market for the client accounts.
All securities are held and deposited with different counterparties that are situated in some 50 countries. We take care to ensure permanently that the assets held by counterparties do correspond with those booked onto our client accounts. The characteristics of the securities, as well as their pricing, are maintained in our systems and allow our clients to consult their portfolio at any time.
In addition to this, the laws and regulations, that may be national or international, are in constant evolution, it is therefore important to adapt our working procedures in order to respect them. Same for our new policy concerning the independent depositary bank for investments funds. The anticipation of change, as well as the news needs of our customers are therefore constantly analyzed by our support teams.
In total, nearly 70 people work in our department.
The teams of the Securities department take care that client operations are well executed, they bring their technical competencies in support to the commercial functions and they monitor the respect of internal and market rules.
